A new approach to Art brought by the Italians. Its main inspirations were current subjects at the time where machinery, and manufacture were at their peak. It demonstrated strength, speed and anything new in the best possible way it could.

It was a movement in which it didn't really follow on from previous movements and carried very different and fresh motives as to what Art should look like. It embraced the current inventions and devices that made it easier for us to live. Things like technology, transport and architecture were used as a base of futurism for artists to distort and project however they felt about it.
The main aim of futurism, was to attract attention, to anger and amaze people, causing wide spread controversy.
They not only portrayed futurism through the medium on painting, but used sculpture as well as furniture and decoration.
